Here at St. Mary’s on the Hill our children are provided with a broad range of sporting and physical education opportunities.
GAA (football/ hurling/ camogie) are of great importance to our school. We take great pride in representing our school for matches and getting involved in the Scith na Scol each year. Hazel from St. Vincent’s club is an important part of our school team, with training weekly for all classes within the school.
Included also in our sports curriculum are blocks of swimming lessons. These swimming sessions are provided for all pupils from 3rd to 5th. This is such a valuable life skill for our pupils and we are lucky to have facilities close to our school to allow us to provide this opportunity.
Soccer is also a firm favourite with our school pupils and they play this daily on our three large playgrounds. Our pupils regularly partake in blitz’s locally with other schools.
Through the school year many of pupils participate in other activities such as ping- pong, Movement & Flexibility and athletics. Some of our senior pupils have even successfully represented our school in competing in Ping Pong tournaments with other schools.
